Project Overview

The construction of a new two storey steel framed health centre on the site of the former Heron Foods factory and distribution centre provided facilities for the amalgamation of three existing GP practises and health centres. The project also provided a Lloyds Pharmacy on site for the patient’s convenience. The land between the entrance and Hessle Road was also enhanced to provide a more open space.

01

The Challenge

With busy roads into the city centre to the front and back of the site the logistics had to be carefully planned. The site itself proved a challenge due to many large concrete piles, crane bases etc within the ground left over from the former food factory.

02

The Solution

All of the existing obstructions were located, surveyed and their co-ordinates were noted. Once plotted onto the proposed drawings the new foundations were designed and positioned around the existing obstructions to avoid clashes and ensure a smooth programme on site.

Had the proposed foundations not been designed in this way the delay to programme on site, excavation of the existing foundations and associated costs would have taken the project significantly over budget.

03

The Result

Due to the initial design work carried out by GGP the project finished on time and within budget.
