Project Overview

GGP Consult were appointed by Galliford Try as part of the Priority School Building Programme to deliver the Civil/Structural design work for Hessle High School and Sixth Form College and Sports Hall.

The Challenge

The existing school was split over two sites and had over 1450 students including 200 sixth form students.

The Solution

The £18.6M fit for purpose development allowed the two sections to come together at one site. The new location included the provision of new science labs, Information Technology, sports facilities and teaching areas for up to 1550 pupils including 230 sixth form students.

The Result

The new building will support improved learning allowing students both present and future to achieve their full potential.

The main school building consisted of a concrete frame structure which is supported on a reinforced concrete raft foundation. GGP Consult provided the foundation design and external works for this building.

The sports hall consisted of a steel frame building. GGP provided all of the Civil/Structural design for the sports hall as well as the external works.
